Songs and Scenes from Sunday, April 10, 2011

Sunday worship, April 10, 2011

This morning our service incorporated readings from Kenneth Boa’s Handbook to Prayer to guide us in corporate worship. The Handbook to Prayer helps us to pray scriptures back to God with daily readings that affirm the attributes of God, the works of God, my relationship to God, the character I want to cultivate, and my relationship to others. It’s an excellent resource for daily prayer and can be found in The Crossing’s bookstore.

Gathering Song: A Place For You by Christine Cover, Chris Binkley, Andrew Camp, Jake Wandel, David Cover and Andrew Luley

This song based on John 14:1-4 is featured on the upcoming Crossing Kids worship album. We’re really excited about it and hope you are, too. Look for the album to come out June 1.

Jesus, Saviour, Pilot Me by Edward Hopper (1871), contemporary melody and arrangement by Bifrost Arts.

Jesus, Saviour, pilot me
over life’s tempestuous sea;
Unknown waves before me roll,
hiding rock and treacherous shoal.
Chart and compass come from Thee:
Savior, pilot me.

You Have Redeemed My Soul by Don and Lori Chafer, Arranged by Page CXVI

I was a hungry child, a dried up river.
I was a burned out forest
and no one could do anything for me.
But You put food in my body, water in my dry bed,
and to my blackened branches
you brought the springtime green of new life
and nothing is impossible for You.
