In Christ Alone by Stuart Townend and Keith Getty, New Melody by Christine Cover and Greg Weile

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev’ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live.

The Christ, Our Light by Martin Reardon

Throughout the Bible we see that God uses the metaphor of light to describe his character, particularly in regards to His Son, the Light of the World. With this song we remember the darkness of our hearts apart from Christ.

When all was dark and without dawn
You gave us Light, you sent your Son.
The Christ, the Christ, He shines, He shines
and drives all dark away, away.

David read an excerpt from “The Jesus Storybook Bible” by Sally Lloyd Jones.

And, one day, when he comes back to rule forever, the mountains and trees will dance and sing for joy! The earth will shout out loud! His fame will fill the whole earth—as waters cover the sea!

Everything sad will come untrue. Even death is going to die! And he will wipe away every tear from every eye. Yes the Rescuer will come. Look for him. Watch for him. Wait for him. He will come. I promise!”

Day of Christ by Andrew Camp, Christine Cover, David A. Cover, & Andrew Luley

“Day of Christ” is a song from The Crossing Music’s album, The Shore. Several songs on the album highlight the saints’ anticipation of Jesus Christ’s promised return.

Wading through the darkened tide,
waiting for this curse to die;
Day of Christ, arise on us,
illuminate Your promise.

We wait, we watch, we long for Your kingdom!
We wait, we watch, we long for You, Jesus.

There is a Day by Nathan Fellingham

As God’s children, our hope is not in this world but in an eternal future where we will be with the Lord forever. “There is a Day” (inspired by 1 John 3:2-3, 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) is a worshipful expression of that hope in song.

There is a day that all creation’s waiting for
a day of freedom and liberation for the Earth.
And on that day the Lord will come to meet His bride
and when we see Him, in an instant we’ll be changed.

The trumpet sounds and the dead will then be raised
by His power never to perish again.
Once only flesh now clothed with immortality
death has now been swallowed up in victory.

Christ is Risen by Matt Maher and Mia Fieldes

O death, where is your sting?
O hell, where is your victory?
O church, come stand in the light;
Our God is not dead He’s alive,
He’s alive!

Christ is risen from the dead
trampling over death by death.
Come awake, come awake!
Come and rise up from the grave.

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.

by Brooke Fraser

The whole earth shakes.
