In Christ Alone by Stuart Townend and Keith Getty

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine –
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

Jake read from Isaiah 29:8-9, a prophecy of the coming Messiah who would defeat the power of death in sinner’s life. This prophecy will see it’s ultimate fulfillment in our resurrected Savior’s promised return.

“He will swallow up death forever.
The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears
from all faces;
he will remove his people’s disgrace
from all the earth.
The LORD has spoken.

In that day they will say,
“Surely this is our God;
we trusted in him, and he saved us.
This is the LORD, we trusted in him;
let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”

Hail to the Lord’s Anointed – Words: James Montgomery (1821), Music and Arrangement: Vito Aiuto (2008)

Hail to the Lord’s anointed,
great David’s greater Son!
Hail in the time appointed,
His reign on earth begun!
He comes to break oppression,
to set the captive free;
To take away transgression
and rule in equity.

We viewed a wonderful video created by Gerik Parmele and scored by The Crossing’s music team illuminating Ephesians 2:1-10. You can view it below.

Christ is Risen by Matt Maher and Mia Fieldes

O death, where is your sting?
O hell, where is your victory?
O church, come stand in the light;
Our God is not dead He’s alive, He’s alive!
Christ is risen from the dead,
trampling over death by death;
Come awake, come awake,
come and rise up from the dead.

David read from Ezekiel 37:1-14 giving us a picture of life after death that is ours in of Jesus Christ’s resurrection.

Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. 13 Then you, my people, will know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. 14 I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the LORD have spoken, and I have done it, declares the LORD.’

I Will Rise by Chris Tomlin, Louie Giglio, Jesse Reeves and Matt Maher

Jesus has overcome
and the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead.
I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain.

Following the message we read The Apostles’ Creed as an affirmation of our faith in the risen Jesus Christ.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:

Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;

The third day He arose again from the dead;

He ascended into heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting.

Sing to the King by Billy Foote and Charles Sylvester Horne

For His returning we watch and we pray.
We will be ready the dawn of that day.
We’ll join in singing with all the redeemed,
‘cause Satan is vanquished and Jesus is King.
